The Traveler....and a Sketch

Today I am preparing for my first card class here in the Melbourne, Florida area.   I wanted to use a stamp set that I had to have, but really haven't used much.    Then to decide on what to make with it.....Oh my all these decisions.  Sometimes the places to search for ideas have too many ideas and I become overwhelmed and end up  not using what I had started searching ideas for.    I wanted to check my email and saw a post from a blog I get updates from....Sandi MacIver and there was the Sketch #92 , SO  that is what I based my card on.  

Colors used:  Night of Navy, pool party, whisper white.

Stamp sets used:  The Traveler, Petite Pairs

Accessories used: chevron embossing folder, scallop oval punch, oval punch, dimensionals, Maritime DSP

YWOOHOO,  I acquired a place to hold small classes, 10 people and under and have scheduled the first class, Mailable Card Class.

My first Class will be held on February 24th 1130- 2pm. New York Pizza & Pasta Cafe 6450 N Wickham Rd, Melbourne, FL 32940...

This class consists of 3 cards that are mailable, they will have layers and embellished, but will not cost more to go thru the mail. The cost is $5 and includes envelopes. You will need to bring your favorite adhesive and scissors. All other supplies will be provided.

Stamp Class in the Mail - Sheltering Tree - update -   Those of you who participated in my first Stamp Class in the Mail, Thanks so much..... Stampin' Up! --- Making a difference!

This' past Saturday I drove up to Jacksonville to attend a Demonstrator's Fund Raiser to benefit Community Connections of Jacksonville.  Lee has been doing these events for 5 years!!!   That's a lot of Making a Difference!    Everyone in attendance brought jars of peanut butter and Jelly too, those when to help the homeless kids (another company was donating bread!).   I thoroughly enjoyed my time, stamping with women and men, learning tips and techniques from one another, learning about each other and helping to make a difference.   She holds these fundraisers every other month to benefit a different charity... and in April she is challenging other demonstrators to do the same, all for the same cause....Autism.  I have taken the challenge and am in the process of coordinating this Event.   It will be held April 11th and all the information regarding this event will be updated as soon as I have all the details.  

Here is one of my favorite cards we made!   Isn't it cute.   This stamp set, Cheerful Critters is one of the first stamp sets I purchased from the Occasions catalog.  I have used it for a birthday card and a Baby card.   So many possibilities and with the open space on the sign you can put any greeting in there.

We used reinkers and the aqua painter to color in the little bear, however you could use any coloring tools, Blendabilities, markers, colored pencils. or use your blender pen and inks too.   For young kids you could let them color in the critters!

I attended Stampin' Up!'s Leadership in Orlando Florida last week.....I mean, I live an hr away, how could I not go???   Well, with selling our home in Maryland, packing everything up and not having a "home"  for over a month and then having a grandson born on the day we moved into our new home, which was the last day for signing up for the Leadership.....I didn't do it.   I mean, I couldn't sign up not knowing when I would be going back to Maryland to visit with family and meet my new grandson.   SO, when I returned home last week, I asked my AWESOME husband if he would mind if I went for 3 days, he said, no I don't mind, go....So I did.   It was too late to register for Leadership or "fill in" for someone who had to cancel.   BUT I went anyway.   I streamed the general sessions, spent time with friends I have met over the years at Stampin' Up! Conventions and Leaderships.   I met a few new people and had a great time.   Took notes from my roommates and had an awesome time.  

One of my friends, Michelle Deslandes from VT, made some awesome swaps and she gave me one....I love it and it uses Duct tape, embossed!!!

Stamp Class in the Mail - Sheltering Tree - All the details!!!

OK, Here are the details of my Stamp Class in the Mail.   I will be having this class every month...a different stamp set each month.   I will announce the stamp set, and give the Hostess Code the last week of the previous month.

For February - the stamp set is Sheltering Tree from the Occasions Catalog, This set only comes in Photopolymer and the cost is $24.95 before shipping and tax.   Item number 137163.  Shipping will be $6.95 directly to you and I will mail you the projects separately with no additional shipping.   If you already have this set, you can choose any stamp set in any of the current catalogs at same price to substitute, however the projects you receive in the mail will be using the Sheltering Tree stamp set.   YOU MUST USE THE HOSTESS CODE:    NK6ANNVD    when you order the stamp set from my website.  If you need assistance in ordering from my website, please contact me.....I can walk you thru it over the phone...I know, one of my dear friends, who excells at everything else is computer challenged, but aren't we all.???  I was able to walk her thru it and if she can do it, so can you.....or we can have it delivered here and I can mail it to you with the finished projects.

The finished projects are yours to do what you want with, you can give them away, use to send to people, sell them, copy (CASE) them, share them, whatever you want to do.  

Leadership Conference in Orlando - Festivities begin ....well they are already started...but I will be there tomorrow.

Long long story, but I will make it much shorter.

Moved from Maryland to Florida, stayed with my brother while searching for a house, found house, came back to Maryland for Christmas, back to Florida for settlement on house and moved in Jan 2nd, same day my grandson was born in Maryland!  Had to have a new roof on new house, so waited for that to complete and finally 10 days ago, flew up to Maryland to meet my grandson and stay with daughters, seeing family and friends too.   Made it to our Quarterly Stampin' Demo Meeting and also met with some friends and shared some of those cards made with them.   In the meantime, new roof on house, so husband drove to Maryland and after seeing all of my daughters, grandchildren and most of my family and some friends, we left before the snowflakes started falling Sunday evening and drove back to Florida.....

It is too late to attend Leadership :{, however I am headed to Orlando for all the other festivities, meeting old friends and meeting new ones too, all with the same thing in common, Stampin' Up!   A great company that I have been a part of for 10 years.

I hope to share some photos with you over the next few days......The last time I stayed at this hotel, the internet was IFFY to non existent, so they may have to wait until I return home sometime Saturday evening.

Starting a new Stamps in the mail Class.....Will post information in my next post either tomorrow or Thursday....- in a nutshell - Purchase a pre determined stamp set, get at least 3 complete projects made with that Stamp Set, not sample pictures, but actual cards or a 3D item (which will be folded for shipping).

Every Tuesday, Stampin' Up! puts several items on "Sale"   Weekly Deals...This week, one of my all time favorite punches is on there, it is part of a 3 punch set, the small flower....isn't it the cutest flower?  I love the other punches that are in the set, but the flower is by far my favorite and most used.

Stampin' Up! just came out with a new Photopolymer Stamp Set too.....it is perfect for stamping on the back of tags for your creations if you sell them, which is an Angel Policy requirement if you use Stampin' Up! copyright material on your creations that you sell.    If you never heard of this policy, just contact me and I will explain it to you....THIS IS ONLY IF YOU SELL YOUR CREATIONS.  You can also use some of these stamps on the back of your creations to let the recipient know it was made with LOVE by you.

I'm ordering this stamp set too, all those stamps for only $15.95!   Definitely worth replacing my old set that I stamp on the back of cards and projects that I make.

Now that my Stamp Room is organized (at least for now!), I have had loads of time to play....NOT!, but I have had a little time to stamp with some new products from the Occasions Catalog and Sale a bration brochure.

Two cards alike.....I almost always make 2 cards when I create a card, I figure if I am cutting the card stock in half I might as well make 2...there is almost no extra time to make the 2nd one and now if I want, I can send one and keep the other....Not this time, I sent them both out.   They are created with the new set, Butterfly Basics on page 26.   There are some new framelits to go with the set, and you save 15% when you purchase both....You also get to choose whether you want wood mount, clear mount or photopolymer.   The butterfly is stamped and cut out using one of the framelits.   This card was so quick and easy, you could also add to it some ribbon, or bakers twine or ribbon...I added pearls...The colors are Wisteria Wonder, Smoky Slate, So Saffron and Pear Pizzazz.

Tomorrow, I am going to work on a sketch....sometimes when I need some inspiration, I search for a sketch and then let my imagination go.....sometimes it's a Good Thing and sometimes it ends up in the recycle bin!!!
